Sukhum, 16.00
President Raul Khadzhimba expressed condolences on the death of an outstanding statesman and public figure Konstantin Ozgan.
The telegram of condolences, sent to the family and friends of Konstantin Ozgan, states:
“Konstantin Ozgan’s path was full of significant difficulties. It is largely due to his patriotism and the love he had for his people that many questions which concerned society were addressed in the right way during the years of the fight for the independence of Abkhazia, particularly during the events of 1989.
For many years, Konstantin Ozgan was head of the Gudauta Raikom of the Communist Party. Later, he was deputy of the Supreme Council of Abkhazia, first Vice Premier, Foreign Minister and Minister for the Economy. In 1992-1993, during the Patriotic War of the people of Abkhazia, he made a significant contribution to the fight for the liberation of his country.
In the last years, Konstantin Ozgan was head of the Council of Elders of Abkhazia.
Konstantin Ozgan will stay in our memory as a statesman, whose thoughts and intentions were dedicated to serving his Homeland”.
