President of the Republic of Abkhazia Raul Khadzhimba expressed condolences on the death of Soviet and Russian statesman and politician, full Knight of the Order “For Merit to the Fatherland” Yury Luzhkov.
The condolences state, in particular:
“On behalf of the government, the people of the Republic of Abkhazia and myself, accept deep condolences on the death of Yury Luzhkov – an outstanding Soviet and Russian statesman and politician, full Knight of the Order ‘For Merit to the Fatherland’.
A great politician and patriot passed away. Yury Mikhaylovich had boundless energy and a great capacity for work, was a cheerful person who did a lot for Moscow as its mayor in a difficult post-Soviet period.
In Abkhazia, the kind and caring attitude of Yury Mikhaylovich to the citizens of Abkhazia was always highly appreciated. As Mayor of Moscow, Yury Mikhaylovich visited Abkhazia a few times. His great personal contribution is the establishment of Russian-Abkhazian social and cultural ties.
The memory of this wonderful person will always stay in our hearts.
In this difficult hour, together with the friends and relatives of Yury Mikhaylovich, we experience this terrible loss”.
