On September 30, President of the Republic of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov congratulated President of the Republic of Abkhazia Raul Khadzhimba on the Day of Victory and Independence.
The congratulation states, in particular:
“Dear Raul Dzhumkovich,
on behalf of the leadership and the people of the Republic of South Ossetia and myself personally, I sincerely congratulate you on the Day of liberation and Victory in the Patriotic War.
For many centuries of its history, brotherly Abkhazia went through many trials and overcame them with honour and dignity. The reason for Abkhazia’s victories is its people’s patriotism, unshakeable faith, unity, and the readiness to defend one’s homeland at any moment. This celebration unites everyone who honours the glorious history of their Homeland and believes in its good future. This celebration became a manifestation of heroism, endurance, unparalleled courage and the greatness of spirit of the people.
Today the Republic of Abkhazia is a dynamically developing state that looks with confidence into the future and steadily strengths its independent sovereignty.
I am confident that the relations of brotherly friendship and mutual respect that exist between our people and which are based on the similarity of our historical destinies will continue to develop in the future and grow stronger for the benefit of our nations.
