On 11th of March the ministers of foreign affairs of Abkhazia and Russia Viacheslav Chirikba and Sergey Lavrov signed the Memorandum on the mechanism of realization of coordinated foreign policy. The signing of this document is an important step in the direction of realization of Article 4 of the Agreement on alliance and strategic partnership between Russian Federation and the Republic of Abkhazia of November 24, 2014. It provides that Russia will assist further international recognition of Abkhazia and its entry to international organizations, including with the initiative of Russia. The importance of creation of a permanent mechanism which would let the two countries conduct active coordinated foreign policy activities directed to the expansion of international recognition and strengthening the positions of Abkhazia on the international political arena, should be highlighted.
